SRINAGAR, Nov 21: – In a significant move to tighten security protocols and ensure regulatory compliance, Srinagar Police today executed a widespread inspection drive across the city, targeting shops dealing in chemicals and fertilizers. The operation was launched to prevent the potential misuse of these materials for unlawful activities and to verify that dealers are adhering to all safety and legal documentation requirements.
The comprehensive drive spanned numerous police jurisdictions, covering a wide area of the summer capital. Police teams were deployed to inspect establishments falling under the limits of Police Stations Nowhatta, Lal Bazar, Shaheeganj, Chanapora, Rajbagh, RM Bagh, Harwan, and Nishat. The inspections also extended to areas including MR Ganj, Safakadal, Zadibal, Hazratbal, Nigeen, and Saddar, ensuring a citywide reach.
During the surprise checks, investigating teams scrutinized various operational aspects of the dealerships. Officers focused heavily on the proper maintenance of stock and sales records to account for the movement of materials. A key area of verification was the adherence to identity checks for bulk purchasers, ensuring that high-volume transactions are traceable. Furthermore, the police examined the validity of trade licenses and assessed whether materials with potential security implications were being stored securely and according to regulatory norms.
Beyond the technical inspections, the drive served as a security briefing for the trading community. Shop owners were apprised of the heightened security measures and were strongly urged to remain vigilant. Police officials instructed dealers to maintain complete transparency in their business dealings and to immediately report any suspicious transactions or individuals to the authorities.
Srinagar Police officials emphasized that these inspections are part of a continuous effort to strengthen the security grid and safeguard public safety. The department reiterated its unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety of citizens and the security of the nation, noting that such drives will remain a regular feature of their operational strategy.
