Srinagar May 5: Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers Federation (KTMF) has expressed deep anguish and outrage over the brutal and inhumane murder of a tribal woman allegedly at the hands of four local youths in Srinagar. This despicable act has sent shockwaves across the Valley and is a grim reminder of the moral decay and growing disregard for human life and dignity in our society.
In a strong statement issued today, KTMF President Mohammad Yaseen Khan condemned the gruesome incident in the harshest terms, calling it a “crime against humanity” that demands swift and exemplary punishment. Khan said, “this barbaric act has shocked the conscience of the entire society. Such brutality must not go unpunished. The culprits must be dealt with sternly and hanged for committing this shameful crime. KTMF expresses solidarity with the bereaved family and urges the authorities to ensure swift justice. We also appeal to the administration and civil society to come together in safeguarding the rights and dignity of women folk.”
“Such heinous acts must not and cannot be tolerated in a civilised society. The perpetrators of this shameful crime should be awarded the strictest possible punishment under the law. They deserve nothing less than capital punishment for this brutality. They should be hanged,” Khan said.
KTMF extended its heartfelt condolences to the victim’s family and the entire tribal community, reiterating full solidarity and support in this hour of grief. Khan further urged the administration to ensure that the investigation is fast-tracked, and justice is delivered without any delay or leniency.
The Federation also appealed to civil society, religious leaders, and community elders to rise above differences and collectively work towards ensuring the safety of vulnerable groups, particularly women and tribal communities.
“This is not just about one woman or one community — it is about the safety, dignity, and rights of every citizen, especially the marginalized. We must send a strong message that such barbarity will face zero tolerance and will be met with the full force of the law. The entire business community stands united in demanding justice for the victim. We cannot allow such savagery to find any place in our society,” Khan added.
