Srinagar, Feb 24: The Kashmir Trade Alliance (KTA) has expressed outrage over frequent and unscheduled power cuts that are disrupting business operations across the region.
In a statement released today, KTA President Aijaz Shahdhar criticized the continuing electricity shortages plaguing businesses in Srinagar and other parts of Kashmir. “Despite the installation of smart meters and hiking of power tariffs, unscheduled power cuts continue to haunt people in Kashmir,” he said.
Shahdhar stressed that businesses are among the worst affected by the unreliable electricity supply. “Most business activities are run on electricity, and the unavailability of electricity derails the whole process,” he explained.
The KTA president revealed that the organization has taken up the matter with the chief engineer of the Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) and sought their intervention to address the persistent power crisis.
He said that frequent electricity outages have long been a source of frustration for residents and businesses in the Kashmir valley. Despite assurances and efforts by authorities to improve the situation, intermittent blackouts continue to disrupt daily life and commercial activities in J&K.
