Srinagar, Feb 25: The International Delhi Public School (IDPS) Society has formally launched its operations in Kashmir by taking complete control of the IDPS school at Zakura, previously managed by the Chowdhary Education Trust.

The move marks the IDPS Society’s direct entry into the Kashmir education market, aiming to bring its expertise in providing quality education to students in the Valley.

Speaking at the launch event, Dr. Narayan Kumar Karan, President of the IDPS Society, expressed the significance of establishing an international school directly managed by IDPS in Kashmir. “This is the Valley’s first school that will be directly run and managed by the IDPS Society based in New Delhi,” he said.

With over 110 schools across India and 10 abroad, the IDPS Society is renowned for its focus on holistic development, advanced teaching methodologies, and world-class infrastructure. By taking complete control of the Zakura campus, the Society aims to elevate the education standards and provide enhanced learning opportunities for students in Kashmir.

“The move is expected to provide a major boost to the education sector in the Valley. IDPS is known for its focus on holistic development, advanced teaching methodologies, and world-class infrastructure,” Dr. Karan added.

SMF Andrabi, Director Operations IDPS Kashmir and Ladakh, reiterated the Society’s commitment to improving education standards in the region. “We are focused on improving the education standards in Kashmir and providing the best possible education to the students in the Valley,” he said.

The Zakura school, previously a franchise of the IDPS Society, is set to undergo significant upgrades in terms of faculty, facilities, and educational resources under the direct management of IDPS New Delhi.

Showkat Chowdhary, Chairman of the Chowdhary Group, expressed his satisfaction with the transition, stating, “In 2014, we sowed a seed, and now after 10 years, I am happy that the school is going into safe hands by being handed over to the IDPS Society.”

The IDPS Society also announced admissions for the 2024-25 academic year during the formal launching event, which witnessed keen interest from various sections of society, underscoring the anticipation surrounding the Society’s entry into the Kashmir education sector.
