Srinagar, Oct 25: A delegation of the Executive Committee of the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), led by its President, Mr. Javid Ahmad Tenga, called on Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha at Raj Bhawan for an introductory meeting with the newly elected office bearers and executive committee members.
The Lieutenant Governor congratulated the new team and extended his best wishes for their tenure. He interacted with all members of the delegation and assured his full support in addressing issues faced by trade, commerce, and industry in the region.
Among the key concerns raised by KCCI was the suspension of cargo services by Air India to Gulf countries from Srinagar Airport, which has severely impacted exporters’ ability to meet delivery commitments, leading to significant financial losses.
The delegation also expressed gratitude to the Hon’ble LG for his continued support to the handicrafts sector, noting that the recognition and awards presented to artisans and weavers have greatly boosted morale and encouraged the preservation of traditional crafts.
KCCI further discussed initiatives for tourism promotion, including plans for a roadshow in Mumbai and an interactive meeting with foreign Ambassadors in New Delhi. These efforts, the delegation said, aim to enhance Kashmir’s visibility as a prime tourist destination and help address restrictive travel advisories issued by some countries.
