Srinagar 01 April (CNS): Private schools in Kashmir have been looting parents of students by selling books and stationeries despite direction from the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) to procure only its recommended books.
As per the news agency CNS, it was learnt that the JKBOSE has asked all schools up to class XII to follow the textbooks recommended by the board, but private schools have not been adhering to the guidelines from the JKBOSE.
“Private schools established in the valley are flouting the government order and have converted their schools into stationery shops,” said parents, whose wards are admitted to private schools.
The JKBOSE has already warned of disciplinary action and a fine of up to fifty thousand or both against those schools recommending books other than those by the board.
“My two children are studying in a private school (name withheld), and its management is asking me to buy books from the institute when there should be no compulsion in it,” said a parent Riyaz Ahmad from Pulwama.
Queries to the effect were received from other districts as well, demanding immediate stoppage of schools’ money-minting practice, which has been burdening the parents.
Meanwhile, parents have appealed to the concerned authorities to look into the issue for its resolution. (CNS)
