Delegation meets Director Tourism, seeks revival plan for valley
Srinagar, Dec 20: The Jammu and Kashmir Hotel and Restaurant Association (JKHARA) has called on Director Tourism Kashmir Syed Qamar Sajad to extend hotel lease periods and streamline registration processes to revive the region’s tourism sector.
A JKHARA delegation led by President Babar Chowdhary met Director Tourism Qamar Sajad on Thursday to discuss measures for boosting tourism infrastructure and promotions.
The delegation included General Secretary Ayeesha Saleem, Joint Secretary Shafi, Pahalgam Chapter Chairman Irfan Hamza, Executive Committee member Mustafa Badyari, and Coordinator Pragya.
The association emphasized that tourism is the backbone of Jammu and Kashmir’s economy and urged authorities to extend lease periods for hotels and restaurants to encourage investment in tourism infrastructure.
JKHARA called for simplifying registration renewal processes for established properties and better coordination between the Tourism Department, Fire Safety, and Pollution Control Board to ease compliance procedures.
The association recommended organizing familiarization tours regularly with a robust plan for reviving valley tourism. The delegation also stressed that allocated departmental funds should be fully utilized and proposed seeking additional government funding for marketing and promotion activities.
The association welcomed Syed Qamar Sajad as the new Director Tourism Kashmir, expressing confidence in his leadership to strengthen the sector.
