Srinagar: The J&K Electrical Engineering Graduate Association (JKEEGA) has lauded the Jammu & Kashmir Power Development Department’s leadership for what it has termed a decisive administrative push aimed at removing stagnation and accelerating long-paited promotions within the department. The Association has expressed deep appreciation for Financial Commissioner (Additional Chief Secretary) JKPDD, Shri Shailendra Kumar (IAS), crediting him for ushering in reforms and taking swift decisions that have significantly improved internal functioning.
In a statement issued today, JKEEGA said the expedited promotion process from Executive Engineer to Superintending Engineer — completed in record time — marks a major breakthrough in addressing long-standing career progression bottlenecks within the department. “The swift execution of these crucial promotions has been a long-pending demand and is a testament to Shri Shailendra Kumar’s commitment to employee welfare and efficient governance,” said Pirzada Hidayatullah, President JKEEGA. He noted that the move has not only lifted the morale of engineers at various seniority levels, but has also ensured that key technical positions are occupied by competent officers best suited to handle operational responsibilities.
JKEEGA also underscored the vital contribution of Mr. Zakir Hussain Wani, Additional Secretary HRM, acknowledging his role in navigating procedural formalities and ensuring that the promotion orders were processed in a time-bound manner. The Association praised his collaboration and termed his efforts instrumental in translating policy decisions into ground-level outcomes.
The Association further welcomed the administrative step of relieving several Chief Engineers from additional assigned charges, which will now enable them to devote full attention to their substantive roles. JKEEGA stated that such clarity of command and responsibility is expected to bring visible improvement in coordination, accountability and efficiency across the corporations and wings of JKPDD.
Calling the recent developments “a positive shift in structural governance”, JKEEGA added that these reforms would reflect strongly in the power sector’s performance and service delivery. “These systemic reforms are setting a new benchmark for administrative efficiency within JKPDD,” the statement said, adding that the Association looks forward to continued cooperation with the administration to advance the power infrastructure in Jammu & Kashmir.
JKEEGA reiterated its commitment to working jointly with the department to strengthen technical capacity, improve service delivery, and contribute to infrastructure growth in the Union Territory.
