Srinagar, Dec 10: The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCC&I) on Wednesday held an interactive awareness session on the new income tax regime with Income Tax Officer Moin Siddiqui at the Chamber office in Srinagar to familiarise business stakeholders with revised tax structures, procedures and compliance requirements.

Presiding over the session, KCC&I President Javid Ahmad Tenga stressed the need for greater clarity on taxation, saying that timely awareness can ease compliance burdens for traders, entrepreneurs and professionals, especially as tax frameworks continue to evolve. He appreciated the Income Tax Department for its cooperation and direct engagement with the business community.

During the presentation, Siddiqui explained key changes under the new regime, filing processes, available exemptions, digital platforms and practical measures for smooth compliance. He also addressed common concerns and advised businesses to stay updated with procedural changes to avoid complications during filing.

The programme witnessed active participation from KCC&I office bearers, executive members, chartered accountants, taxation professionals and business representatives. A question–answer session followed, where participants sought clarification on exemptions, documentation, timelines and transition issues. The officer assured continued cooperation to resolve industry-related concerns.

KCC&I said it will continue to organise similar awareness and capacity-building programmes to support and strengthen the trade ecosystem in Kashmir.
