Jammu, Sept 12: The Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) has urged the Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to extend the deadline for filing Income Tax Returns (ITR) and Tax Audit Reports till December 31, 2025.
In a communication to the Finance Minister, CCI President Arun Gupta said that businessmen across Jammu and Kashmir are currently preoccupied with multiple commitments and obligations, making it difficult to complete tax audits and return filings within the stipulated deadlines.
“The business community would be greatly relieved if the due date is extended. This will provide sufficient time for compliance and ensure smooth completion of statutory requirements without unnecessary pressure,” Gupta stated.
The CCI President requested that the deadline be extended at least until December 31, 2025, to enable businessmen to file their returns comfortably. He also urged Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to take up the matter with the Union Finance Minister on priority.
