Srinagar, Nov 19: The Chamber of Commerce & Industries – Kashmir (CCIK) convened its Executive Committee meeting on Wednesday at Hat Trick, Rajbagh, Srinagar, focusing on organisational planning, sector-specific challenges, and the wider economic landscape of Jammu & Kashmir.
During the session, Showkat Chowdary was unanimously elected Advisor to the Chamber. Members welcomed his appointment, expressing confidence that his experience will strengthen CCIK’s outreach, policy engagement, and strategic initiatives. Zubair Gul was elected as the Youth President of CCIK.
The committee discussed key issues affecting trade, industry, and tourism. Several sub-committees were set up to streamline operations and drive CCIK’s agenda for 2025–26. The Chamber also confirmed that detailed representations have already been submitted to the Home Minister and the Prime Minister, seeking urgent intervention for tourism revival and redressal of economic challenges in Jammu & Kashmir.
Reaffirming its commitment to protecting livelihoods, CCIK called for immediate supportive measures to stabilise the economy and promote long-term growth. The meeting concluded with a collective resolve to continue strong advocacy for resilience, development, and prosperity across the region.
The Minister of Renewable Energy, Satish Sharma, attended the meeting and congratulated the newly elected Executive Committee members and office bearers. He also extended greetings to Mushtaq Chaya on being appointed Chief Patron, Tariq Ghani as President, and Showkat Chowdary as Advisor, assuring the Chamber of his full support.
