Srinagar,Jan 13 : Mohammad Aijaz Asad, Secretary to the Government, Planning & Development Department, visited the Directorate of Economics & Statistics, Srinagar, and the School of Applied Economics and Statistics (SAES), Bemina Srinagar today.

Welcomed warmly by officers and staff, Mr. AijazAsad stressed the importance of dedicated and professional execution of assignments, highlighting the evolving priorities of the Government.

During the interaction, he underscored the necessity for real-time database-driven policy planning, ensuring its widespread impact, particularly benefitting the general public. The Directorate of Economics & Statistics, pivotal in providing data and analysis, plays a crucial role in supporting government initiatives and academic institutions.

Accompanied by Director General, PD&MD Shahzada Billal, AijazAsad delved into the working of the Regional Directorate/Directorate. Director General Athar Hussain Qadriand, and Director Evaluation, provided insights into their respective areas.

The Secretary also toured the School of Applied Economics & Statistics, inspecting various sections, lecture halls, and the computer laboratory. He directed the school’s Principal to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for upgrading facilities to match reputed institutions nationwide. Interacting with staff and trainees, Mr. AijazAsad encouraged them to embrace the latest tools and techniques for official assignments.

This visit underscores the government’s commitment to enhancing the capabilities of key institutions, ensuring they align with national standards.
