Srinagar, August 8: Jammu and Kashmir police have apprehended two individuals for impersonating police officers in the Nehru Park area of the summer capital, Srinagar.
A top official told news agency Kashmir Dot Com that two persons identified as Karanvir Sharma, alias Raninder Pratap Singh, son of Atal Sharma, and resident of Kaddan, Tehsil Payal, Ludhiana, along with his associate Ravinder Singh, son of the late Sardar Lakhvir Singh from Bhangar, Tehsil, and District Ferozpur, Punjab, were found posing as a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) and accomplice in Nehru Park police jurisdiction of East Srinagar.
The duo was spotted in a white Toyota Fortuner bearing registration number PB77 8925, equipped with “red lights and a siren,” adding to their deception. “Reliable sources noticed their suspicious behavior and promptly reported it to the police, leading to their swift arrest,” he said.
Meanwhile, police seized the vehicle and registered a case under FIR No. 98/2024, invoking sections 319(2), 49, and 205 of the BNS at the RM Bagh Police Station. Further investigations are underway. (KDC)
