Srinagar, July 17: As the summer vacation in Kashmir Valley comes to an end today, with schools set to reopen tomorrow, the School Education Department is considering an extension for primary students due to an impending heatwave.
Government and private schools across the Kashmir Valley are scheduled to resume classes on July 18th after the summer break. However, weather forecasts predict another heatwave starting today and lasting until July 22nd, with temperatures expected to remain several degrees above normal.
In light of these unfavorable weather conditions, particularly for younger children, the government is reportedly contemplating a 7-day extension of the summer vacation for students from Class 1 to Class 5. This decision aims to prioritize the health and well-being of primary school students who may struggle with the extreme heat.
The School Education Department is expected to make an official announcement soon regarding the potential extension. If approved, primary schools would likely reopen on July 22th instead of the originally planned July 18th.
Parents and educators are advised to stay tuned for updates from the School Education Department. The decision will affect both government and private primary schools across the Kashmir Valley.
