Srinagar: Powerlifter Fardeem Hussain from Srinagar has added another major milestone to his career by clinching three gold medals at the International World Powerlifting Championship 2025 in Thailand.

The victory comes just a year after he bagged three golds at another international event, further cementing his status as one of India’s top powerlifters on the global stage.

This year, Hussain also led the national squad as Captain of Team India at the championship, which saw participation from athletes representing 40 countries. Competing against some of the world’s finest powerlifters, he secured top honours in multiple categories.

“It was a tough competition, but I had been preparing for a year with the goal of winning gold. I’m now gearing up for upcoming events to continue adding medals to my powerlifting journey,” Hussain said.

With this latest achievement, he becomes the first powerlifter from Jammu and Kashmir to earn such high international recognition.

Representing India on the world stage, he said, has been a lifelong dream. “Leading the team internationally is a responsibility I take with pride and discipline. This year is about pushing boundaries, breaking records, and keeping the title home for India,” he added.

Hussain prepared intensively over the past six months, focusing not only on rigorous gym sessions but also on diet and overall fitness. He credited his coach and mentor, Ishtiyaq Ahmad Khan, for constant motivation and guidance.

Coach Khan praised Hussain’s dedication, calling his success a breakthrough moment for athletes from the region. “Fardeem’s participation and victories at the international stage open new doors for aspiring powerlifters in Kashmir. His discipline and preparation are an inspiration. Kashmir now has one of the world’s finest powerlifters,” he said.

Beyond his international achievements, Hussain continues to dominate national competitions, holding titles such as National Powerlifting Champion, North India Champion, and multiple State and District championships—further proving his consistent excellence across all levels.
