Kathua, June 20 (KNC): In a significant administrative action, the District Police Headquarters (DPH) Kathua has disengaged a Special Police Officer (SPO) from service over allegations of involvement in immoral and corrupt practices, accumulation of assets through questionable means, and unauthorized absence from duty.

According to an official order issued by the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kathua, SPO Rishi Sharma (198/SPO), son of Joginder Paul, a resident of Keerian, Kathua, was found allegedly involved in immoral and corrupt activities based on information received from the District Special Branch, Kathua.

The order states that the SPO had allegedly amassed substantial movable and immovable assets through questionable means. It further notes that he was not performing his assigned duties satisfactorily and had remained absent from duty without authorization.

“Keeping in view the above facts, SPO Rishi Sharma, 198/SPO, is hereby disengaged from the service of SPOs of District Kathua with effect from June 12, 2026,” the order reads.

Police authorities have also declared the post held by the SPO as vacant and directed him to immediately deposit all uniform articles, arms, and ammunition issued to him in the DPL Store/Kot.

The disengagement order, issued under Order No. 554 of 2026 dated June 18, 2026, has been circulated to senior police officers, including the Inspector General of Police, Jammu Zone, the Deputy Inspector General of Police, JKS Range Jammu, and other concerned officers for information and necessary action.

The move is being viewed as part of the police department’s efforts to maintain discipline, accountability, and integrity within the force and to take stringent action against personnel found violating service norms.(KNC)
