Srinagar: Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) has taken prompt safety measures after a bear was sighted within the institute premises on Monday, sparking concern among students, staff, and residents. CCTV footage has confirmed the presence of the animal.
Acting on the directions of Director SKIMS & EOSG, Prof. M. Ashraf Ganie, the Wildlife Department was immediately informed and requested to provide necessary assistance to prevent any untoward incident.
Director SKIMS personally visited the hostel areas and various areas of the premises this morning to assess the situation and instructed security teams to maintain strict vigil. In response, the Wildlife Department has placed a bear trap in the SKIMS hostel vicinity to ensure the safety of all students, staff, and the surrounding community.
The Director expressed his gratitude to the Wildlife Department for their swift response and cooperation. The CCTV Unit SKIMS is closely monitoring the premises . Also the security of SKIMS along with staff from wildlife Department is constantly monitoring the potential areas & are on alert.
Authorities have advised everyone on campus to remain alert, avoid isolated areas, and report any unusual activity until the situation is fully resolved.
