Srinagar Feb 18: Real Kashmir Football Club is gearing up for their upcoming I League match against Churchill Brothers FC on Sunday, February 18, at Tilak Maidan in Goa.
During a pre-match press conference, RKFC head coach Ishfaq Ahmad expressed confidence in the team’s preparation for the clash on Churchill Brothers home ground.
“I hope our players will give their 100 percent in the match. The Churchill Brothers FC Goa has a well-balanced team. However, we are optimistic about positive results in our favor,” Ishfaq stated.
He acknowledged the support of late owner Sandeep Chatoo’s family, stating their backing in continuing his legacy of promoting football in Kashmir after Sandeep’s tragic loss on December 31.
“So far, Sandeep’s family has been very supportive,” Ishfaq added.
RKFC player Lalramdinsanga Ralte shared the team’s ambition to secure the I League title for the 2023-2024 season.
The team’s morale is high, boosted by their recent 3-0 victory against table-toppers Mohammedan SC in an away match in Calcutta. This season, the majority of the players are local talents.
Established in 2016 by Sandeep, RKFC has emerged as a vital platform for the youth in the valley. Actively promoting local players, sending them abroad, and competing in top leagues across India, the club’s commitment has enabled individuals from J&K to participate in the country’s premier football leagues. Notably, RKFC is the sole club from J&K participating in the I League.
