Srinagar, Jan 6: Mir Mohammad Fayaz, a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Kupwara and a member of the PDP (People’s Democratic Party), has criticized the Advisor to the government and the NC (National Conference) government regarding their protocol and respect towards MLAs.
Fayaz questioned the legal and political status of the Advisor, pointing out the chain of command where the Advisor instructs the Deputy Commissioner (DC), who then directs his Personal Assistant (PA) to send text invitations to MLAs. He expressed his concern over the lack of direct communication and respect from higher officials towards elected representatives.
In his statement, Fayaz advised the Honorable Minister to respect the institutional supremacy of the Assembly and the importance of statehood restoration by showing due respect to fellow MLAs. He emphasized the need for direct engagement, suggesting that if the government is serious about these issues, they should directly contact the MLAs in the district, mentioning that there are 6 MLAs in Kupwara alone.
This public critique by Fayaz highlights ongoing tensions regarding governance, communication, and respect for legislative members within the political landscape of Jammu and Kashmir.
