Srinagar, Nov 25 (KINS): The Director School Education Kashmir (DSEK), Naseer Ahmed Wani, on Tuesday strongly encouraged parents to prioritise government schools for their children to avail the full range of benefits offered under the free education schemes.

He made these remarks during his visit to Government Boys High School Kamalkote in Tehsil Uri, a remote border area located close to the Line of Control (LoC).

The Director as per news gathering agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS) said he deliberately chose Kamalkote for the final leg of the ongoing enrolment drive to highlight the government’s commitment to ensuring quality education even in far-flung areas of Jammu & Kashmir.

Addressing the students, he said, “I welcome you all, dear students. It gives me immense pleasure to be among you today. I chose Kamalkote because it is far away from Uri town, located on the border, yet the people here have always shown great respect for education.”

He emphasised that the government’s enrolment drive is nearing completion and visiting Kamalkote was important to reinforce the administration’s outreach to underserved communities.

“This is the final stage of our enrolment programme, and I wanted to ensure that this area receives special focus. Every child deserves access to equal opportunities, regardless of how remote their village is,” he added.

Highlighting the series of welfare initiatives being implemented in government schools, the Director strongly encouraged parents to take full advantage of them. “Children are our future. The government is providing free education, free textbooks, nutritious meals, uniforms and several other facilities in government schools,” he said.

Urging parents not to miss these opportunities, he added, “I want to appeal to the parents to enroll their children in government schools and take the benefits of the government’s education schemes. These initiatives are designed to support every child, especially those in remote and economically weaker regions.”

He assured the local community that the department will continue strengthening the education system in border areas like Kamalkote to ensure that no child is left behind.
