Srinagar, Jan 6: Following a significant snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) on January 5, 2025, particularly affecting the valley, restoration efforts are in full swing to mitigate the impact. Omar Abdullah, Chief minister of J&K took to social media to update the public on the ongoing situation.

In his post, Abdullah highlighted that the electricity load in the valley currently stands at 1200MW, with expectations of an increase as the day progresses. He emphasized that the restoration work is being closely monitored to ensure efficient power supply and safety during this harsh weather.

The status of the electrical feeders has been detailed, showing various districts with both 11 kV and 33 kV feeders currently operational. For instance, out of 280 total 11 kV feeders, 200 are running, which accounts for 70% functionality. Similarly, for 33 kV feeders, 93% are operational, with 125 out of 134 feeders functioning.

Snow clearance operations are prioritized, focusing on roads to ensure accessibility and safety. Two ministers, @sakinaitoo and Javaid Dar, along with advisor @nasirisogami, are scheduled to tour the affected districts. Their aim is to assess the situation on the ground and oversee the restoration efforts firsthand.

The post, timestamped at 9:27 PM on January 6, has garnered significant attention with 6,952 views, 24 reposts, 2 quotes, and 159 likes, indicating the public’s keen interest and concern over the situation.

As the region braces for further challenges posed by the weather, the government’s proactive approach in managing the crisis has been noted. The community is encouraged to stay informed through official updates and to cooperate with local authorities to facilitate the ongoing restoration work.
