Srinagar, Oct 17 – Bollywood’s dynamic music duo, Salim-Sulaiman, and the talented composer Mithoon have joined forces with renowned Sufi singer Abdul Rashid Hafiz to create a captivating Kashmiri song that’s making waves.
Titled “Meri Jaan,” this song is a unique fusion of Hindi and Kashmiri languages. Composed by Mithoon and Abdul Rashid Hafiz, it features not only Hafiz but also Asees Kaur, known for her hit track “Raataan Lambiyan,” lending her melodious voice to the Hindi part of the song.
In the recently released music video, Hafiz passionately sings his famous Sufi song, “Ya tuli khanjar to maarey, nat’e saan’i shaba roozay,” which has captivated audiences before. Accompanying Hafiz, Mithoon and a chorus artistically perform the Kashmiri part of the song.
The renowned music director duo, recognized for blending traditional and contemporary sounds in their musical journey “Bhoomi,” have now brought Mithoon’s music and Hafiz’s Sufi touch together in this beautiful composition.
Salim-Sulaiman shared the trailer of the song on social media and YouTube, describing it as one of their enchanting melodies. Salim Merchant, one half of the duo, mentioned on his social media handles, “Presenting to you the fourth song of Bhoomi 2023 – Meri Jaan by the amazing Mithoon, and it’s so special that it’s a Hindi-Kashmiri song with the Hindi part sung by Asees Kaur and a beautiful Kashmiri composition by Rashid Sahab.”
In a video message, Salim expressed his deep connection to this song due to its Kashmiri essence. “This song is very special for me because it takes me to the valleys of Kashmir. It is beautifully composed by Mithoon and Abdul Rashid Hafiz and sung by Asees Kaur and Abdul Rashid Hafiz sahab,” he stated.
This unique collaboration between Kashmir and Bollywood has received overwhelming love from music enthusiasts worldwide on social media. In just one hour of the trailer’s release, over 2,000 viewers watched the song on YouTube.
