Jammu, Dec 13:
A meeting was held between Member of Parliament Ghulam Ali Khatana and Jagmeet Kour Bali, Chairperson of the All Sikh Minority Employees Association and All Employees Joint Association, Jammu and Kashmir, to deliberate on issues concerning minority communities in the Union Territory, with particular focus on challenges faced by minority employees.
During the interaction, Bali apprised the MP of several long-pending demands of the Sikh community. These included the grant of minority status and reservation to Sikhs in Jammu and Kashmir, immediate implementation of SRO-425 along with other pending service-related benefits, and the need for a comprehensive policy for individuals who continued to live in the region but were deprived of their due entitlements over the years.
Bali emphasised the urgency of timely and effective measures to ensure social justice, security and equal opportunities for minority communities, especially those serving in various government departments.
The meeting was held in a cordial and constructive atmosphere. Khatana gave a patient hearing to the issues raised and assured that the genuine concerns of the Sikh community and other minority groups would be taken up at appropriate forums. The interaction reflected a shared commitment towards addressing the welfare and rights of minority communities in Jammu and Kashmir.
