SRINAGAR, Dec 6: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor on Saturday hit back at Chief Minister Omar Abdullah over claims circulating on social media regarding delay in approval of age relaxation for the JKPSC examination, terming such posts as “misleading.”
In an official statement issued by the Office of the Lieutenant Governor, it was clarified that Lok Bhavan had received the relevant file on December 2, 2025, and that the proposal was “categorically related to age relaxation only.” The statement said the file was returned the same day with a specific query seeking clarification on whether it was logistically feasible to conduct the examination on December 7 by incorporating changes in eligibility criteria at such a late stage.
“Despite the lapse of four days, Lok Bhavan did not receive any response to the query,” the statement said, countering assertions that delay at Raj Bhavan had caused uncertainty among aspirants.
The LG expressed sympathy with JKPSC aspirants, acknowledging the stress being faced by young candidates amid the ongoing controversy. However, the statement underlined that procedural timelines and logistical feasibility also needed to be considered in such matters.
The Office of the LG further pointed out that the JKPSC had issued the advertisement for the examination on August 22, 2025, while the date of the exam—December 7, 2025—was notified well in advance through a notice dated November 6, 2025.
“Social media narratives suggesting inaction or delay are factually incorrect,” the statement maintained, asserting that Lok Bhavan had acted promptly upon receipt of the file.
The clarification from the LG comes amid a growing political exchange between the Raj Bhavan and the elected government, even as aspirants continue to demand clarity and relief on the issue of age relaxation ahead of the scheduled examination.
