Srinagar, Oct 24: In a significant development for Kashmir’s trade and commerce sector, the two main factions of the Kashmir Traders & Manufacturers Federation (KTMF) have officially merged, vowing to collaborate for the betterment of the region’s trade community. The merger was formally announced during a gathering attended by numerous members from both factions, signaling a united front in support of trade and commerce in Kashmir.
The factions in question were led by Mohammad Yaseen Khan and Bashir Ahmed Rather, representing two influential segments of KTMF. This historic merger aims to pool their strengths and resources to tackle the challenges and seize the opportunities that face traders in the region, while also championing their rights and interests.
Bashir Ahmed Rather, the head of one KTMF faction, expressed his enthusiasm for this collaborative effort, stating, “We believe that by working together with KTMF acting President Mohammad Yaseen Khan, we can leverage our collective strengths and resources to address the challenges and opportunities facing traders in our region. Our united efforts will undoubtedly bring about positive change.”
As a result of the merger, Rather has stepped down as president, and both factions will work jointly under the leadership of Mohammad Yaseen Khan until elections are held. Khan expressed his optimism about the unification and highlighted the significance of the collaboration in achieving shared goals. He said, “We look forward to a productive working atmosphere collectively. As part of our cooperative efforts, KTMF is planning to meet Honourable LG Manoj Sinha to discuss policies that benefit the local trading community.” The partnership is primarily aimed at empowering traders, fostering growth, and strengthening the economic landscape in the region.
The announcement meeting witnessed the presence of numerous prominent business leaders, including Zahoor Ahmad Shah of Aftab Market Lal Chowk, Javaid Ah Zargar President Jamia Market Traders Association, Din Mohd Mattoo Ex President Lal Chowk Traders, Ab Majeed Bhat President Red Cross Traders Maisuma, Mohd Abdullah Shah President Nai Sadak, Lateef Ah Sofi President Gousia Market Association Khanyar, Fayaz Ahmad Bhat President Bagh e Mehtab Traders, Ab Majeed Khan President Safa Kadal Traders, Nisar Ahmed Shahdar General Secretary Maisuma Traders Association, Rafiq Ah Zargar President Al Quds Market Hari Singh High Street, Abdul Rouf Malik, and Mehrajudin Khan President Natipora, among other members of both factions.
This merger is expected to usher in a new era of cooperation and coordination within the trading community in Kashmir, potentially leading to improved conditions and opportunities for traders and manufacturers in the region.
