President of the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCC&I), Javid Ahmad Tenga, today called on the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha, and discussed various issues concerning trade, commerce, horticulture, tourism and industry in the Valley.
The KCC&I President was accompanied by Executive Committee Member of KCC&I and President of JKPICCA, Bashir Ahmad Naik.
During the meeting, KCC&I President Javid Ahmad Tenga discussed several pressing issues being faced by the business community and urged the Lieutenant Governor to take necessary measures for revival and strengthening of economic activity in Jammu and Kashmir.
The KCC&I President highlighted issues related to the horticulture sector, particularly challenges confronting Controlled Atmosphere (CA) Stores. He also raised the issue of losses suffered by fruit growers due to recent hailstorms in various parts of Kashmir and urged the administration to provide adequate compensation and relief to the affected orchardists.
President KCC&I also discussed matters concerning trade and industry and stressed the need for a more conducive business environment to facilitate economic growth and investment in the Union Territory.
Tourism-related concerns were also discussed during the meeting, with the KCC&I President emphasising the importance of sustained promotional efforts, infrastructure development and policy interventions to revive tourist footfall and support stakeholders associated with the tourism sector.
Javid Ahmad Tenga further urged for the announcement of a special One Time Settlement (OTS) scheme by J&K Bank for the business community, traders and entrepreneurs affected by prolonged economic distress. He said such a relief measure would provide much-needed financial respite to struggling businesses and help revive economic activity.
The Lieutenant Governor gave a patient hearing to the issues projected by the KCC&I President and assured that the concerns raised would be examined sympathetically.
