Srinagar: The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCC&I) has extended its heartfelt congratulations to the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Team for their historic victory in the Ranji Trophy, marking the first time the team has lifted India’s most prestigious domestic cricket title.
KCC&I described the achievement as a moment of immense pride for the entire Jammu and Kashmir, noting that the Ranji Trophy represents the pinnacle of domestic cricket in the country. The Chamber lauded the players for their grit, discipline, and fighting spirit, stating that the J&K team played with heart and determination, leaving no stone unturned in their pursuit of excellence.
The Chamber also appreciated the role of the team management, selectors, and cricket administrators for ensuring a fair, transparent, and merit-based selection process, which allowed true talent to flourish.
According to KCC&I, this victory is a testament to what can be achieved when talent is nurtured in a professional and unbiased environment.
This landmark success has shown that Jammu and Kashmir possesses exceptional sporting talent. With the right support systems, infrastructure, and governance, our youth can compete and excel at the highest national level.
KCC&I emphasised that the success in cricket should now serve as a blueprint for other sports, including football, hockey, and athletics, where the region has abundant untapped potential. The Chamber urged the government, sports bodies, and private stakeholders to invest more consistently in sports development, coaching facilities, and grassroots programs.
Kashmir is full of sporting potential. What has been achieved in cricket must now be replicated across other games to create more opportunities for our youth and to place Jammu and Kashmir firmly on India’s sporting map.
KCC&I emphasised that it is time to significantly upgrade and modernise sports infrastructure across Jammu and Kashmir to match the aspirations and talent of the youth.
The Chamber called for the immediate upgradation of historic and key sporting venues, including Sher-i-Kashmir Stadium, Polo Ground, Bakshi Stadium, Gani Memorial Stadium, as well as sports facilities in Jammu and various district sports stadiums. These iconic grounds hold immense legacy value and must be developed into world-class facilities to nurture emerging talent.
The Chamber also highlighted that many school and college playgrounds remain underutilised, despite there being a serious shortage of proper sports infrastructure in Kashmir. These institutions should be systematically utilised, maintained, and integrated into a broader sports development framework to provide accessible training spaces for youth.
KCC&I congratulated the players and support staff and expressed confidence that this historic win will inspire a new generation of sportspersons across the region.
