Srinagar: The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCC&I) on Tuesday held a high-level interactive meeting with Dr. Abdulhasan Aldairi, a leading business figure from the Kingdom of Bahrain, to explore avenues for collaboration and strengthen economic ties between Jammu & Kashmir and Bahrain during his visit to the region.

The meeting was led by KCC&I President Javid Ahmad Tenga and Vice President Farooq Amin and focused on fostering cooperation across key sectors, including handicrafts, food processing, tourism, and small and medium enterprise (SME) development.

Dr. Aldairi currently serves as Chairman of the Bahrain SMEs Society and the United Nations International SMEs Organisation (UNISMO), and as Deputy Chairman of the Bahrain Management Society (BMS). He also holds leadership roles as Chairman of Green Foods Company and Blue Ocean Company, Deputy Chairman of Khair Holding Company, and a Board Member of Nawat Holding Company, bringing with him extensive expertise in business development and international trade.

Discussions centred on establishing a structured framework for bilateral engagement aimed at promoting trade and commerce, investment cooperation, SME linkages, market access, and the exchange of expertise between the two regions. Special emphasis was placed on collaboration in food processing, handicrafts, agri-based industries, tourism-related enterprises, and capacity building.

Tourism promotion emerged as a key area of focus, with discussions on organising familiarisation (FAM) tours to showcase Jammu & Kashmir’s tourism potential and encourage visitor inflows from Bahrain. The handicrafts sector, reflecting the region’s rich artisanal heritage, was identified as a priority area for international market access and sustainable livelihood generation.

The proposed collaboration is expected to open new export opportunities from the Union Territory, enhance global exposure for local enterprises, and attract foreign investment. It is also anticipated to create employment and entrepreneurship opportunities, particularly for small and medium enterprises across Jammu & Kashmir.

“This engagement with Bahrain represents a significant opportunity for our business community,” said Javid Ahmad Tenga, President of KCC&I. “We are committed to strengthening international economic ties and creating meaningful opportunities for trade, investment, and enterprise development in the Union Territory.”

KCC&I reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with the administration to promote trade, industry, and investment in Jammu & Kashmir, thereby contributing to sustained economic growth and greater global integration.
