SRINAGAR – The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) has called for a complete shutdown across Kashmir on Wednesday, April 23, in protest against Tuesday’s deadly attack at Baisaran, Pahalgam, that killed 26 people including tourists and locals.
In its statement, KCCI appealed to all sectors of trade, commerce, and industry to observe the bandh while exempting tourist vehicles from the shutdown.
“We condemn the violence against innocent people – both local and tourist who were brutally killed today. KCCI considers it to be an act against humanity,” the Chamber stated.
The business body has announced that volunteers wearing black armbands will be stationed at tourist locations including hotels, restaurants, shops selling essential items, parks, gardens, and other public places to protect visitors and prevent further attacks.
KCCI has invited all associations to join their efforts in providing facilities and protection to tourists visiting the Valley, expressing solidarity with the victims of the attack.
