SRINAGAR, Dec 3: Kashmiri-origin professional Suhail Ahmad Tantray has brought pride to Jammu & Kashmir after being elevated to the post of Senior Vice President at the Alzheimer’s Research Institute in the United States, a development widely celebrated across the region.

Tantray, who hails from Pampore in south Kashmir, has been working in the U.S. for several years and has now secured a senior leadership role in one of the country’s premier research bodies focused on Alzheimer’s disease. His accomplishment has drawn praise from community leaders, officials, and residents alike.

People in Pampore — popularly known as the ‘Saffron Town’ — described the news as a moment of “collective pride” for Kashmir. Local residents said Tantray’s achievement highlights the growing global footprint of Kashmiris in science, healthcare, and research.

Community leaders extended their “warmest felicitations,” noting that his elevation reflects not only individual excellence but also the immense potential of youth from Jammu & Kashmir. They added that Tantray’s rise in a leading American research institution would inspire young people in the Valley to pursue advanced scientific careers.

Officials also hailed the accomplishment, calling it an “honour for the entire Union Territory” and a testament to the international calibre of professionals emerging from the region.

Tantray’s achievement, they said, serves as an encouraging milestone for the younger generation aiming to make their mark on global scientific platforms.
