Srinagar, Dec 28: In the midst of the biting cold and heavy snowfall that has blanketed Kashmir, disrupting normal life and cutting off many from basic services like electricity and water, the spirit of hospitality in the valley remains undiminished. Jammu Kashmir Hotel And Restaurant Association (JKHARA) President, Babar Chowdhary, has lauded the enduring tradition of Kashmiri hospitality, which has shone brightly through these challenging conditions.
In a statement released today, Babar Chowdhary praised the local residents for their exceptional efforts in assisting stranded tourists. Despite the severe weather that has left many roads impassable and services disrupted, the community has rallied to offer shelter, food, and warmth. “It is heartening to witness that Kashmir’s long-standing tradition of hospitality is alive and thriving,” Babar commented. He noted that locals have been opening their homes and mosques, providing refuge and comfort to those caught unawares by the snow.
Chowdhary highlighted the numerous social media posts showcasing the community’s response, where local residents and mosque committees have been seen helping tourists navigate through the snow or providing them with basic necessities. “These extraordinary gestures are a testament to the strength and compassion of the Kashmiri people. No matter the circumstances, Kashmir will always honor its rich heritage of helping strangers in their time of need,” he elaborated.
The JKHARA President also called upon the local administration to expedite snow clearance on critical routes, particularly those leading to accommodations, medical facilities, and other key service points. He stressed the urgency of restoring essential amenities like power and water to ease the burdens faced by both the local populace and visitors.
Babar Chowdhary extended his heartfelt thanks to the people of Kashmir, applauding their resilience and kindness, which has not only kept the spirit of hospitality alive but has also reinforced the cultural identity of the region amidst adversity. His acknowledgment serves as a reminder of the intrinsic warmth and generosity that defines Kashmiri culture, even in the face of nature’s harshest challenges.
