Srinagar, Apr 27: The Kashmir chapter of the All India Organisation of Chemists and Druggists (AIOCD) convened a crucial meeting today to address the recent directives issued by the Drug Controller of the state Drug Department regarding the mandatory installation of CCTV cameras and computer billing systems (CBS) at chemist shops.
During the meeting, members of the association engaged in extensive discussions on the implications of the new orders. The consensus emerged that while the chemists’ body is not fundamentally opposed to the idea, there is a pressing need for thorough deliberations before the implementation of such significant measures.
Expressing their viewpoint, a spokesperson for the association stated, “We believe that the decision to mandate the installation of CCTV cameras and CBS requires a proper mechanism and cannot be rushed. While we understand the intent behind these directives, it is imperative that stakeholders like us are consulted before such important decisions are made.”
The association emphasized the importance of being included in discussions prior to the formulation and implementation of policies that directly affect their business operations. They underscored the need for a collaborative approach between the authorities and the chemist community to address any concerns and ensure smooth compliance with the new regulations.
“We are not against the installation of CCTV cameras and CBS, but we urge the concerned authorities to hold discussions with us before moving forward with the implementation. It is crucial that our perspectives and apprehensions are taken into consideration,” the spokesperson added.
In light of these deliberations, the Kashmir chapter of AIOCD has issued an appeal to the Drug Controller and other relevant authorities to initiate discussions on the subject matter. The association seeks a transparent and consultative process that allows for meaningful dialogue and the resolution of any outstanding issues.
