Srinagar, June 01: The President of India on Monday appointed Justice Sanjeev Kumar, Judge of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, as the Acting Chief Justice of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Law and Justice, Justice Sanjeev Kumar has been appointed to perform the duties of the office of the Chief Justice following the elevation of Justice Arun Palli to the Supreme Court of India.
The notification stated that the appointment has been made under Article 223 of the Constitution of India.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by Article 223 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint Shri Justice Sanjeev Kumar, Judge of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, to perform the duties of the office of the Chief Justice of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh consequent upon the appointment of Shri Justice Arun Palli, Chief Justice of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, as a Judge of the Supreme Court of India,” the notification read.
The appointment was notified by the Ministry of Law and Justice on Monday.
