Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Hotel and Restaurant Association (JKHARA) has warmly welcomed the reopening of 14 prominent tourist destinations across Jammu and Kashmir, terming the move a significant and timely boost for the region’s tourism and hospitality sector.
In an official statement issued today, President, JKHARA, Mr. Babar Chowdhary, expressed deep appreciation for the administration’s decision and reiterated the association’s longstanding demand for reopening key tourist spots.
“We have been continuously demanding the reopening of the tourist destinations,” said Mr Chowdhary. “The reopening of these locations is not only vital for the tourism industry but also for thousands of families whose livelihoods depend directly and indirectly on tourist activities.”
JKHARA hailed the proactive approach of the administration and extended its sincere gratitude to Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, for issuing the necessary directions to facilitate the reopening of the 14 destinations.
Mr. Chowdhary noted that the reopening will restore confidence among tourists, travel operators, hoteliers, restaurateurs, transporters, and other stakeholders who form the backbone of Jammu and Kashmir’s tourism ecosystem. He emphasized that the hospitality industry has shown resilience during challenging times and is fully prepared to welcome visitors with renewed enthusiasm and enhanced safety standards.
“The decision reflects the administration’s commitment to strengthening the tourism sector, which remains one of the primary drivers of economic growth in Jammu and Kashmir. We are confident that this step will significantly increase tourist footfall and revitalize business activity across the region,” he added.
JKHARA assured full cooperation with the authorities to ensure smooth operations and adherence to all guidelines at the reopened destinations. The association also appealed to tourists from across the country and abroad to visit Jammu and Kashmir and experience its unparalleled natural beauty, rich cultural heritage, and warm hospitality.
The reopening of these 14 tourist spots is expected to generate employment opportunities, boost local businesses, and reinforce Jammu and Kashmir’s position as a premier travel destination.
