Srinagar, March 03 (KNC): The Jammu & Kashmir Police has issued a strong advisory urging media professionals and the general public to uphold the principles of responsible journalism, emphasizing that accuracy and verification are paramount in sensitive situations.

In a public message, authorities stressed the importance of verifying information before reporting and cautioned against publishing unconfirmed news or speculative content. The advisory highlighted that the spread of rumors and misinformation can create panic, disturb public order, and potentially endanger lives.

“Responsible Journalism Matters” and “Verify Before You Report” were the key messages underlined by the Police, calling upon journalists to avoid unverified claims and stick strictly to factual reporting.

The advisory further appealed to media houses and social media users to ensure accuracy and credibility by reporting only verified information. Officials reiterated that responsible reporting plays a crucial role in maintaining peace and stability, particularly during sensitive developments.

The Police also reminded that spreading rumors can have serious consequences and urged everyone to act with caution and accountability.
