Srinagar, Nov 19: A jaundice outbreak has been detected in the Bohri Kadal area of Srinagar, with 12 confirmed cases reported among individuals aged 12 to 32 years, officials said on Wednesday.
Health authorities confirmed that three water samples and five blood samples have been collected and sent to the District Public Health Laboratory (DPHL) at JLNM Hospital, Rainawari, for comprehensive testing. The Jal Shakti Department has also been notified to conduct water sampling and examine supply sources for possible contamination.
No hospitalisations or referrals have been reported so far, and patients are being monitored at the community level. Medical teams have carried out health awareness sessions, advising residents to use boiled or filtered water and remain vigilant for symptoms.
Local surveillance teams have been instructed to keep strict watch over the area and report any further cases immediately. Officials assured that the situation is under control, though preventive measures continue to be reinforced.
