Scores of political workers join JKUM in Ganderbal

Srinagar, May 15 : Jammu Kashmir United Movement President and Former MLA Ganderbal Sheikh Ishfaq Jabbar urged the Central government to expedite the early release of incarcerated mainstream leader and Awami Itihaad President (AIP) Er. Rashid on humanitarian grounds so that he can lead his election campaign. Sheikh Ishfaq Jabbar was speaking in a joining function in Mamer Kangan area of Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district where scores of political workers join Jammu Kashmir United Movement (JKUM).

He said it is important for democracy and fairness that all political leaders, including Er. Rashid, have the opportunity to participate in the electoral process. He emphasized the need for a level playing field for all candidates in the upcoming elections.

Jabbar also highlighted the deteriorating health condition of Er. Rashid and stressed the importance of ensuring his well-being while he is in detention. He appealed to the government to consider the humanitarian aspect of the situation and release Er. Rashid so that he can actively participate in the election campaign.

Jaabar asserted that he is of the firm belief that Er. Rashid will continue to abide by the law & democratic values.

“His release will undoubtedly further strengthen the roots of democracy in Kashmir division and will reflect the true empowerment of public opinion,” he said.

He also urged that all politicians and civil society members should leave their trivial difference and unanimously push for the early release of Er. Rashid.

The JKUM party president expressed hope that the Lt. Governor’s and Cetral Govt. administration will take into consideration the calls for Er. Rashid’s release and make a decision in the best interests of democracy and the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

Jabbar while welcoming the new entrants said, JKUM is gaining widespread support through its comprehensive outreach programs. Our developmental agenda resonates with the hopes and aspirations of the people, addressing their longstanding demands for essential infrastructure development, a conducive business environment and ample employment opportunities for the youth,” the statement reads.

The new joinees are committed to work with utmost honesty, diligence and passion to bring about a change in the political system of our state that is unfortunately based on the tenets of corruption, nepotism and economic persecution. They also expressed full faith in JKUM leadership to address the concerns of the people irrespective of their party affiliation, region or religion in order to take the state towards peace, prosperity, progress and development”, the statement added.
