Srinagar, Feb 19: Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) Srinagar, is conducting its 37th Convocation in University of Kashmir tomorrow i.e. 20th February 2024. The main event is scheduled to take place at IGNOU Campus New Delhi where Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar, the Vice President of India, will be the Chief Guest.
The proceedings of the Convocation will be telecast live on IGNOU’s Gyan Darshan Channel, Swayam Prabha Channels and streamed live through University’s social media handles.
Dr. Shahnawaz Dar, Regional Director IGNOU Srinagar, informed that the university is going to distribute the degrees through the Blockchain Technology. This technology ensures faster submission of degrees through the DigiLocker. Students pursuing different programmes from the IGNOU will be able to access and download their degree certificates from their Digilocker accounts, he added.
Dr. Dar said that the students are informed to create an account in the Digilocker so as to swiftly access the degree on the day of convocation when the Vice President of India will click the button for the distribution of degrees through blockchain technology. The eligible students have been informed by the university to Sign up now for a streamlined process, making the academic achievements easily and conveniently accessible.
The 37th Convocation function will be simultaneously held at some selected Regional Centres of IGNOU and the University’s Srinagar Centre has been selected as one of the Units to organize the Convocation function. The Srinagar event will be held at University of Kashmir’s Gandhi Bhawan, for Kashmir and Ladakh based learners.
The Regional Director further added that 9616 Learners belonging to 126 different programmes under Srinagar Centre are eligible for receiving degrees on the convocation.
