Srinagar, Oct 18: The Jammu & Kashmir Tourism Alliance (JKTA) held its 21st Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Saturday at Hotel New Park, Srinagar, bringing together leading stakeholders, hoteliers, and tourism professionals from across the region.
The meeting marked the election of a new leadership team for the 2025–2027 term. Hilal Ahmad Dar was elected as Chairman, while Shamim Ahmed Shah took over as Vice Chairman. Waseem Siah was elected Honorary Secretary General, Sameer Ahmed as Joint Secretary General, and Mohammad Maqbool Pakhtoon as Honorary Treasurer.
The Executive Committee members include Zahoor Qari, Mir Anwar, Showkat Pakhtoon, Mohammad Akram Siah, Sameer Baktoo, and Rajinder Singh.
The AGM witnessed an atmosphere of optimism and renewed commitment toward strengthening Jammu & Kashmir’s tourism sector. Members discussed recent challenges while expressing confidence in a collaborative approach to revive and sustain tourism in the Union Territory.
A key highlight of the event was the felicitation of two industry stalwarts — Zahoor Ahmad Tramboo of Shahenshah Hotel and Sardar Narinder Singh of Pahalgam Hotel — who received Lifetime Achievement Awards for their decades of dedication and service to the tourism industry.
Speaking on the occasion, newly elected Chairman Hilal Ahmad Dar expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him. “Tourism is not just an industry for us — it’s a lifeline, a culture, and a shared heritage. Together, we will work towards a sustainable, inclusive, and resilient tourism future for Jammu & Kashmir,” he said.
The event was attended by prominent figures from the tourism fraternity, including Ghulam Rasool Siah, Haji Manzoor Ahmad Wangnoo, Gowhar Maqbool, Mir Anwar, Manzoor Ahmad Pakhtoon, Mohammad Afzal Parray, Mohammad Ibrahim Siah, Rauf Ahmad Tramboo, Mohammad Shafi Wangnoo, Zahoor Ahmad Karnai, Sameer Baktoo, Waseem Ahmad Goosani, Burhan Misgar, and Altaf Ahmad, General Manager JKTDC.
The JKTA extended congratulations to the newly elected leadership and award recipients, reaffirming its commitment to promoting collaboration, growth, and excellence in Jammu & Kashmir’s tourism sector.
