Srinagar, Aug 18: In a significant political development, former Jammu and Kashmir Minister Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali has joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at the party office in Jammu. Ali, who previously served as a leader in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), cited the BJP’s policies and their impact on the common people as the primary reason for his decision.
During the joining ceremony, Ali expressed his admiration for the BJP’s initiatives, stating, “The policies and schemes of the BJP have reached even the last person in the queue. These things compelled me to join the BJP.” He specifically mentioned the popularity of the ‘sehat card’, which he claims is referred to as the ‘Modi card’ by people in his area.
The former minister highlighted several positive changes in Jammu and Kashmir under the BJP’s governance. “Peace has been restored in J&K, stone pelting has ended, the common man feels more secure, and the tourism industry has grown,” Ali remarked. He also expressed confidence in the BJP’s future in the region, asserting, “We will form our government.”
In a direct criticism of opposition leader Omar Abdullah, Ali questioned his contributions to J&K, stating, “What has he (Omar Abdullah) done for J&K? They have been giving only slogans after ruling for 70 years.”
This move is likely to strengthen the BJP’s position in Jammu and Kashmir, as it continues to expand its influence in the region. The party will undoubtedly leverage Ali’s experience and local connections to further its political agenda in the coming elections.
As the political landscape of Jammu and Kashmir continues to evolve, the impact of this high-profile joining will be closely watched by political analysts and voters alike.
