Srinagar, Feb 13, KNT: The Special Operations Group and other security forces on Friday carried out a flash cordon and search operation at Lal Chowk in Srinagar as part of intensified security measures in the city centre.
Officials said multiple hotels and lodges in and around the busy commercial hub were checked during the operation. Security personnel collected details from hotel owners and verified the credentials of guests staying at various establishments.
The exercise was conducted as a precautionary measure in view of the sensitive nature of the day and ongoing security concerns. Lal Chowk, being a high-profile and strategically significant location, remains under close surveillance during important occasions and anniversaries.
Security forces maintained a visible presence in the area while checks were carried out in a systematic manner. Traffic movement was regulated for a brief period, though normal activity resumed shortly thereafter.
