SRINAGAR, Nov 21—In a stunning display of human endurance and dedication to a cause, Srinagar’s own Rafiq Ahmad has successfully completed the monumental Kashmir to Kanyakumari (K2K) Cycling Expedition, covering a staggering 4,249 kilometers in just 16 days.

The achievement, which concluded on November 16, 2025, has instantly elevated Ahmad to a national symbol of physical fitness and perseverance.A Ride for Unity: Promoting National Integration.

The expedition, which was flagged off from TRC Srinagar by Secretary Sports Council, Ms. Nuzhat Gul, on November 1, 2025, was themed “A Ride for Unity.” It was organized by Dare2Gear Adventure in association with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports under the Fit India Movement.

The event held special significance as it was part of the nationwide celebration of the 150th Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the architect of modern Indian unity.

Among the 150 cyclists who participated from across India, Rafiq Ahmad stood out as the sole representative from Jammu and Kashmir, bringing immense pride to the Union Territory with his success. Over the 16 days, he battled diverse terrains and weather, demonstrating exceptional determination and mental strength.A Life-Changing Feat and a Sacred AspirationUpon finishing the grueling journey in Kanyakumari, Rafiq Ahmad described the K2K expedition as a “life-changing experience” that reinforced his belief in the power of perseverance and unity.He shared his heartfelt gratitude, thanking the people of Jammu and Kashmir and the cycling community for their continuous prayers and encouragement throughout the event.However, the K2K finish line is not the end of Ahmad’s aspirations. He revealed a dream of even greater magnitude—a pilgrimage on his bicycle.“My dream is to one day reach the holy city of Makkah on my bicycle. I pray that Allah grants me the strength to fulfill this dream,” Ahmad stated, expressing a deeply personal and spiritual goal.Rafiq Ahmad’s extraordinary feat serves as a powerful inspiration, demonstrating to young athletes across Jammu and Kashmir that with discipline and dedication, no distance is too far and no dream is too big.
