Kulgam, Dec 18: Ajaz Ahmad Bhat, Director Sericulture J&K, graced the valedictory function of a 03-day Capacity Building Training Program for Farmers under the Holistic Agriculture Development Program (HADP) as the Chief Guest. The event, organized by the J&K Sericulture Development Department, was held at Town Hall Kulgam and marked the culmination of the department’s mass awareness initiative currently underway across J&K.
During the program, Mr. Bhat congratulated the participants for their active involvement and dedication to learning advanced sericulture practices. He emphasized the importance of capacity building in enhancing the productivity and sustainability of sericulture farming, reiterating the government’s commitment to farmer welfare through initiatives like HADP. The Director felicitated the farmers with certificates and essential rearing tools as tokens of appreciation and encouragement. He urged them to utilize the knowledge and tools effectively to improve their livelihoods and contribute to the growth of the sericulture sector.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Bhat highlighted the pivotal role of sericulture in strengthening rural economies and empowering farming communities in J&K. He also appreciated the efforts of the department’s officers and staff in organizing such impactful training programs and awareness campaigns.
Later in the day, Mr. Bhat visited Katapora, Yaripora in Kulgam, where he personally congratulated Miss Afiya Javid for her outstanding achievement of securing the 8th rank in the JKAS 2023 batch. He lauded her hard work and dedication, describing her success as an inspiration for the youth of the region. The Director assured that the department remains committed to nurturing talent and supporting young achievers in their journey towards excellence.
The events witnessed enthusiastic participation from farmers, locals, officers, and community members, reflecting the growing interest in sericulture as a viable livelihood option.
