Srinagar, Dec 6: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday urged the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) to consider postponing the Jammu and Kashmir Combined Competitive (Preliminary) Examination, 2025, citing extraordinary circumstances faced by aspirants.
In a letter to JKPSC Chairman Arun Kumar Choudhary, the Chief Minister referred to the ongoing disruption in air services that has caused widespread travel chaos across the Union Territory, affecting candidates’ ability to reach examination centres.
He also flagged uncertainty arising from the delay in approving age relaxation, an enabling provision that has been extended multiple times in the past, saying the issue has added to mental and logistical stress among aspirants.
Calling for fairness, equity and equal opportunity, Omar Abdullah urged the Commission to take cognisance of the prevailing situation and consider postponement of the examination by a reasonable period in the interest of candidates.
The Chief Minister expressed confidence that JKPSC would take a compassionate and balanced view of the matter in the larger public interest.
