SRINAGAR: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has expressed deep concern over the widespread travel chaos triggered by ongoing airline disruptions, stating that the situation has placed immense pressure on competitive exam aspirants across Jammu and Kashmir.
In a statement released by the Office of the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah said the uncertainty has been further aggravated by the delay at Lok Bhavan in approving age relaxation, a provision that has been granted on several occasions in the past. He noted that the lack of clarity has added to the anxiety of thousands of candidates preparing for examinations conducted by the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC).
The Chief Minister highlighted that flight cancellations and rescheduling have severely impacted the mobility of aspirants, particularly those travelling from remote areas, making it difficult for them to reach examination centres on time.
Terming the situation as unprecedented, Omar Abdullah urged the JKPSC to take note of the extraordinary circumstances and consider postponing the examination in the interest of fairness and equal opportunity. He said such a step would help ensure that no candidate is disadvantaged due to factors beyond their control.
The Office of the Chief Minister reiterated that the government remains sensitive to the concerns of aspirants and is closely monitoring the evolving situation to safeguard their interests.
