Srinagar, Nov 17: Chamber of Commerce and Industry Kashmir (CCIK) has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic accident involving a bus carrying Indian Umrah pilgrims in Medina, Saudi Arabia, early this morning.
Tariq Ghani, President CCIK, extended heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved families and prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured. He said the incident has caused immense grief across Kashmir and the entire country, as many local families have relatives currently on Umrah.
According to initial reports, the accident occurred when a bus carrying 46 pilgrims collided with a tanker while travelling from Mecca to Medina. The reports indicate that 45 Indian pilgrims lost their lives in the collision, making it one of the most devastating accidents involving Indian nationals performing Umrah in recent years.
CCIK urged Hon’ble Home Minister of India, Shri Amit Shah, to ensure full support for the families of the deceased and to facilitate all necessary assistance for those injured. The organisation also called upon the Government of India to coordinate closely with Saudi authorities for swift repatriation and relief measures.
The Chamber said it stands in solidarity with all families affected by the tragedy and prayed for strength to those who have lost their loved ones.
