NEW DELHI, Feb 13: Eminent cardiologist Prof Upendra Kaul has been conferred the Lifetime Achievement Award 2026 by the Indian Society of Clinical Research (ISCR) at its 20th Annual Conference held in New Delhi.
According to an official statement, the award recognises Prof Kaul’s exceptional contribution to cardiology and clinical research spanning more than four decades. Over the course of his distinguished career, he has authored more than 400 research publications and played a pivotal role in advancing evidence-based cardiac care in India.
Prof Kaul’s work has earned him several prestigious honours, including the Dr. B. C. Roy Award, the ICMR Shakuntala Amir Chand Award, and the Padma Shri — one of the country’s highest civilian awards.
A renowned clinician, researcher and teacher, Prof Kaul is also the founder of the Gauri Kaul Foundation, an NGO dedicated to healthcare outreach in Jammu and Kashmir since 2020. Through the establishment of the Gauri Research Centre, the foundation has significantly contributed to expanding ethical clinical research and improving healthcare access in the region.
The ISCR stated that the Lifetime Achievement Award 2026 was conferred in recognition of Prof Kaul’s transformative impact on patient care and his enduring commitment to strengthening India’s clinical research ecosystem.
