Srinagar, July 16- The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) Kashmir Chapter has received official approval for its Working Committee, marking a significant step forward in its mission to protect, empower, and represent the trading community across Jammu & Kashmir.
The committee was established under the leadership of Mr. Farhan Kitab, President of CAIT Kashmir Chapter, and formed in consultation with Shri Sumit Agarwal, National Joint Secretary of CAIT. The committee received formal approval from Shri Praveen Khandelwal, Secretary General of CAIT and Member of Parliament from Chandni Chowk, Delhi.
The newly approved Working Committee comprises ten dedicated members representing various aspects of trade and commerce. Mr. Farhan Kitab will serve as President, with Mr. Fayaz Ahmad Khan as Senior Vice President and Mr. Peer Imtiyaz Ul Hassan as General Secretary. The committee also includes Mr. Waseem Afroze Khan as Vice President, Mr. Sajjad Gul as Additional General Secretary, and Mr. Omer Mukhtar as Chief Advisor. Supporting roles include Mr. Mohammad Altaf Dar as Chief Publicity/Media, Mr. Farhat as Treasurer, Mr. Mehraj Ud Din Ganai as Organiser, and Mr. Imtiyaz Qalander as Advisor.
The CAIT Kashmir Chapter has identified upholding the dignity and honour of the trading community as its primary objective, alongside working persistently for the revival of struggling businesses throughout the region. The organization plans to develop a comprehensive roadmap in consultation with stakeholders and local trader bodies to ensure that ground realities are properly understood and addressed.
The chapter has committed to addressing all genuine concerns facing the trading community, including policy-level hurdles, taxation issues, infrastructural gaps, and market challenges. These concerns will be presented to relevant authorities at both the Union Territory and national levels.
Speaking about the committee’s formation, officials emphasized that CAIT Kashmir Chapter aims to serve as the collective voice of traders and function as a strong advocate for their betterment, aligning with the broader vision of “Viksit Bharat.”
The approval comes at a crucial time when the trading community in Jammu & Kashmir faces multiple challenges, and the newly formed committee is expected to play a vital role in addressing these issues through organized representation and advocacy.
With this united leadership team in place, CAIT Kashmir Chapter is positioned to strengthen the trading ecosystem and contribute to the economic development of the region while ensuring that trader interests are effectively represented at all levels of governance.
