Budgam Police, in coordination with the Tourist Police Station Srinagar, on Thursday conducted a verification and checking drive of homestays and guest houses in the Humhama area to ensure compliance with tourism and safety regulations.

During the inspection, several establishments were found operating without valid registration. The unregistered properties identified include Cozy Heaven at Sheikhpora near the Armed Complex; Haji Guest House, Humhama near the Airport; Sukoonat Gah, ARCO Residency, Humhama; Welcome Homestay, Humhama near the Airport; Zabeel Villa, ARCO Residency, Humhama; and Homestay by Ishaan at ARCO Residency.

Following the violations, preventive action under Sections 126 and 170 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, was initiated against the owners of all six properties. In addition, fines were imposed on Haji Guest House and Welcome Homestay for operating without the mandatory registration.

Budgam Police have urged all homestay and guest house owners in the district to strictly adhere to the prescribed legal and regulatory framework and obtain the necessary registrations from the competent authorities to avoid legal action.

Officials said such verification drives will continue in the future to ensure compliance with regulations and to promote safe, lawful, and responsible tourism practices in the district.
