SRINAGAR: In a bid to counter negative perceptions and reinvigorate the tourism sector, a Bollywood film unit is currently stationed in the Valley, shooting three separate films dedicated to highlighting the region’s culture and stories.

The initiative, produced by Gubbara Entertainment and supported by the Azim Premji Foundation, is seen as a timely effort to revive tourism, particularly in the aftermath of the recent deadly attack in Pahalgam.
Focus on Local Stories and Heritage
The projects are being filmed across South Kashmir and other iconic locations.

Mohammad Abdullah Lone, Line Producer at Firdous-e-Kashmir Productions, who is overseeing the schedule, stated that the films are deeply rooted in the region.

“These films depict the stories of Kashmir, its people, and how tourism can be revived, especially after the Pahalgam incident,” Lone told Rising Kashmir. He emphasized that the films explore the lives of local people and the richness of Kashmir’s heritage, noting that the themes are significant for the future of tourism in the region.

Star Cast and Production Details
The films feature popular actor and comedian Satish Ray, as well as Faisal Malik, known for his role in the acclaimed web series Panchayat, alongside other cast members. While the release platforms have not yet been announced, the project aims to create impactful content for a broad audience.
One specific segment of the project shines a spotlight on Kashmir’s renowned willow cricket bat industry, showcasing a unique aspect of the local economy.
Locations and Schedule
The crew has been filming in the Valley for the past fifteen days and is expected to wrap up the shoot on December 7. The production has covered a wide array of scenic spots to showcase the Valley’s beauty, including:

  • Gulmarg and Tangmarg
  • Dal Lake and Nishat
  • Pulwama
  • Various locations in South Kashmir
The project is viewed not just as entertainment, but as a strategic move to project a positive narrative of Kashmir to potential tourists.
